The Ryuougu Shinkyo monument commemorates completion of the approaches to the Kaitsumi and Hayataka shrines and the Shinbashi bridge, on the Ryuou Cape.

Summary of the inscription:
Katsurahama beach is one of the most famous scenic spots in Kochi, where the green pine trees and the white sand of the beach are in harmony.
The first owner of Tokugetsurou restaurant, Torahachi Matsuoka who respected the Japanese gods donated money to renovate the approach to the shrines and build the new bridge, increasing the attractiveness of the beach as a scenic spot.
The monument was erected to commemorate this.

According to the biography of Torahachi Matsuoka (Shyodai Matsuoka Torahachi Den) edited by Masamichi Teraishi, "In 1927, Torahachi Matsuoka, the first owner of the Tokugetsurou restaurant, received a letter of appreciation from Shigemori Komatsu, the mayor of Urato village, for renovating the approach to the shrine, building a Shinto bridge and donating a fence."
