Jomon Sites and Gassyo Dogu

Aomori Prefecture has many important ruins from the Jomon period.
In July 2021, it was inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage Site as "Jomon Archaeological Sites in Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku.”
17 historic sites in Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, and Iwate prefectures are constituent assets. Aomori Prefecture has eight historic sites, and Hachinohe City has the Korekawa Stone Age site as a constituent asset.
At the Korekawa Stone Age site and the Kazahari 1 site across the river, Gassho clay figures were unearthed and later designated as National Treasures.
These Gassho clay figures are stored and exhibited at the Korekawa Jomon Kan.
