Otoshimioya Jinja ~ Otoshimioya-no-Mikoto

Otoshimioya Jinja enshrines Otoshimioya-no-Mikoto as its principal deity, and is said to have been founded by Emperor Ojin in 273.
The shrine, which was also called Nagoya Jinja, housed the guardian deity from before the Nara period (710-794) when the Shizuoka city area was called “the city of Abe.”
The honden (main shrine), sukibei (transparent fence), and chumon (inner gate) escaped damage during WW II and have been designated as Important Cultural Properties.
The haiden (hall of worship) and romon (two-storied gate) burned down during an air raid, but were reconstructed after the war.
The shrine is believed to protect and foster agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, commerce, and other industries.
