Jimokuji Kannon (Hoou Jimokuji Temple)

Jimokuji Kannon, known as one of the four Kannons of Owari, is said to have originated in the 5th year of Empress Suiko's reign (597) when a hunter named Ryumaro Jimoku of Ise pulled up the Bodhisattva Sho Kannon from the sea and enshrined it in a hermitage.
It became a large temple when it was designated as a Chokuganji temple due to prayers for Emperor Tenchi to heal from his illness.
Since then, Jimokuji Kannon has been protected through the donations of funds and buildings by many people, and many temple treasures, including five nationally important cultural properties, have been preserved to this day.
