A Sea of Azaleas in Bloom

Each spring, the hills of Ootawa are transformed into a vibrant sea of color with over 50,000 blooming tsutsuji (azaleas)—especially the Kurume and Hirado varieties, varieties developed in Japan. This week is the peak season, offering an ideal time for nature lovers and photographers alike.
The festival is free to attend, and is perfect for a relaxed family outing or a peaceful floral escape from the city.

⚫︎ Fresh Local Vegetables – Available on select days, depending on supply
⚫︎ Wagashi (Japanese sweets) – Pop-up shops from Uraga (Seieiken) and Kurihama (Kowa)
⚫︎ Nostalgic Japanese Toys (Free to use) – Free nostalgic Japanese toys for kids and adults
Note: The annual children’s sketch contest will not be held this year.
How to Get There
By Train & Bus:
From JR Yokosuka Line (Yokosuka or Kinugasa Station) or Keikyu Yokosuka-Chuo Station, take a local bus to Takeyama bus stop, then walk about 20 minutes to the venue.
By Car:
Approx. 5 minutes from Kinugasa IC on the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road.
