Embark on a Cultural and Spiritual Journey with Keikyu 38 Jizo Walk in Yokosuka

Embark on a spiritual journey along the Yokosuka Keikyu Line with the “Miura 38 Jizo Walk.” This picturesque walk takes you through the streets of Yokosuka and the Miura Peninsula to visit 38 unique Jizo statues, each with its own history and legend. The walk is held in commemoration of the “Gokaicho”, a special event that takes place every 12 years where the Jizo statues in the 38 temples of the Miura Peninsula are simultaneously opened to the public. Join us for an unforgettable experience exploring the cultural and historical significance of Yokosuka.

How to Participate

  1. Obtain a map from the tourist information racks in Yokosuka city. Please check the following for details on the locations where the map is distributed.
  2. Visit each featured spot and write down the keyword and necessary information on the entry form.
  3. Show the completed entry form to the staff at the Uraga Community Center Annex, which is the finish line. The staff will confirm and stamp the entry form, and then give you a participation prize.

The reception desk is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Note: Please bring your own writing utensils. Be sure to get your entry form stamped at the Uraga Community Center Annex.

Important Notes for Participants

  • For safety and to avoid causing inconvenience to facilities and neighboring residents, please refrain from participating in the event at night.
  • If you have coughing or fever symptoms or are feeling unwell, please refrain from participating. If you feel unwell during the event, please stop participating and make your own judgment.
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • There may be cases where you cannot visit the Jizo statue due to memorial services or other events. In addition, depending on the congestion on the day of the event, it may take time to receive the Goshuin stamp.
  • Even if a spot is a designated destination, if there are restricted areas due to construction or other reasons, please follow the instructions given on site.
  • Ignoring traffic rules, such as running a red light, is extremely dangerous. Please strictly observe traffic rules.
  • We cannot take responsibility for accidents or injuries that occur during the event.
  • Please refrain from smoking while walking.
  • Please do not engage in behavior that may inconvenience the neighboring residents during the event.
  • This event is a walking event. We do not accept participation by car or bicycle, etc.
