Kurihama Flower Park Poppy & Nemophila Festival 2026

Kurihama Flower Park will host the Poppy & Nemophila Festival 2026 from Saturday, April 11, to Sunday, May 31, 2026. During the festival, visitors can enjoy around 1 million poppies in bloom across the park, while the nemophila in the hilltop flower field also reaches its best viewing period. A variety of events are also scheduled during the festival period, including the Kurihama Flower Town Fair and the annual free poppy picking event at the end of May.

About Kurihama Flower Park

Kurihama Flower Park is a flower-themed park where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers in rich natural surroundings. In spring, the park is known for its poppies, while autumn brings large displays of cosmos, drawing many visitors from both Yokosuka and beyond.

In the Herb Garden, lavender comes into season from May to July. Visitors can also enjoy the free footbath Yuttari, where the water is blended with seasonal herbs. For families, the park also offers child-friendly play areas, including the Adventure Land area with its Godzilla slide and a playground near the Herb Garden.

Kurihama Flower Town Fair

Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026
* Postponed to Sunday, May 24, in case of rain.

Venue: Open plaza in front of the Poppy Garden
Details: This special spring event in Kurihama is scheduled to feature brass band performances, dance performances, and stalls selling local food and regional products.

Chirimen Poppy Craft Workshop

Dates: Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 2026

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Venue: Herb Garden
Fee: JPY 500 per session
Details: Visitors can try making poppy flowers using chirimen fabric.

Koinobori Flying Over the Poppy Garden

Venue: Poppy Garden
Details: To celebrate Children’s Day, many koinobori carp streamers will be displayed above the Poppy Garden.

Historic Car Day

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
* Held in rain, canceled only in severe weather.
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Venue: Open plaza in front of the Poppy Garden
Organizer: Yokosuka Historic Car Day Executive Committee
Details: A gathering of classic and historic cars is scheduled in front of the Poppy Garden.

Giant Cardboard Maze

Details: A large cardboard maze will appear during Golden Week.

Handmade Toy Workshop

Details: This annual free poppy picking event is held as part of the Kurihama Flower Park Poppy & Nemophila Festival.

Notes:
* A flower-picking set including scissors, gloves, and newspaper will be sold for JPY 300.
* Visitors may also bring their own flower-picking tools.
* On Saturday, May 30, half of the Poppy Garden will be open. On Sunday, May 31, the entire area will be open.
* There is no advantage to attending on the first day.
* Flower picking is allowed only in the Poppy Garden. Flowers may not be picked elsewhere in the park.
