Yokosuka Oktoberfest 2023: Springtime Revelry in Beer and Cuisine

Get ready for the inaugural “Yokosuka Oktoberfest 2023 in Spring,” held at Verny Park from Friday, May 12th, to Sunday, May 21st, 2023!

The Oktoberfest, world-renowned German beer festival with a history of around 200 years, attracts throngs of tourists who come to enjoy beer and German cuisine. This time in Yokosuka, you can enjoy approximately 60 types of German draft beer and 100 different gourmet dishes. Local businesses, including craft beer brewers from Yokosuka, will also have stalls. There will be plenty of stages, including performances by the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet and German ethnic bands – a must-see for music lovers! Don’t miss out on this fusion of gastronomy, fine drinks, and music!

On Saturday, May 20th, and Sunday, May 21st, there will also be a curry festival, and a free shuttle bus will operate between the two venues.

Free Shuttle Bus Service

On Saturday, May 20th, and Sunday, May 21st, when the “Yokosuka Curry Festival 2023” is held, a free shuttle bus will operate between the venues. Mikasa Park ⇔ Verny Park (Operates every approx. 30 minutes)

ALPINA

The German folk music band ALPINA, produced by Woho from southern Germany, is well received for their program that enjoys the atmosphere of a real Oktoberfest with the audience. With a wide repertoire from German folk music to popular and rock, you can also enjoy yodeling sung by a powerful female vocalist. German folk instruments will also appear on stage. This time, Woho will join the inaugural Yokosuka Oktoberfest and excite the venue with a powerful performance.

Broadside Brass Band from the Seventh Fleet Music Band

The Broadside Brass Band from the Seventh Fleet Music Band is an energetic band that spices up any event. They perform music of various genres including traditional New Orleans-style brass bands, contemporary jazz, rock, funk, etc., and are perfect for festivals, schools, and public places.

Rons Week

Formed in July 2020, the group features Honami on guitar and vocals (originally from Ishikawa Prefecture), and Masami on keyboard and vocals (from Ibaraki Prefecture). Their contrasting voices create a unique harmony that defines their sound.

Banana Monkeys

An amateur band active mainly in Yokosuka, they play folkloric music from Central and South America, primarily from the Andean region.

Goodmoon

With their harmonious vocals and experienced guitar techniques, this sibling duo has been active not only in Japan but also in Europe, North America, and various Asian countries.

A saxophone duo composed of a man and a woman.

Shonan Super Ramens

An all-female saxophone quartet.

A promising 19-year-old ukulele player born in 2004 and hailing from Kanagawa Prefecture.
