Discovering Yokosuka Bay: Explore Shin-Yasuura Fish Port

Yokosuka Port is located on the southwest side of Tokyo Bay, forming numerous coves along the coastline, which makes it a natural and excellent harbor. Access to Tokyo is convenient, with a land route of 55 km through Yokohama and a sea route of 25 nautical miles (46.3 km) in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Land access is also convenient to the metropolitan area by using highways.

The port area spans approximately 61 km of coastline from Oppama to Nobi in Yokosuka City, divided into 13 districts for management. The Heisei district, where Shin-yasuuura Port is located, completed reclamation in 1992, featuring commercial facilities, residences, and schools.

The area offers various attractions, including a sports plaza for skateboarding and mountain biking, a waterfront promenade for seaside activities, and a grassy square called “Umikaze Park,” where barbecues can be enjoyed. Additionally, facilities such as “Umibe Tsuripark,” a seaside fishing park, are present, making it a lively destination throughout the year.
