Handprint Monuments of Nikkatsu Movie Actors

Chofu City was famous as a "film city" throughout the prewar and postwar years.
Around 1955 during the heyday of Japanese films, there were three film studios in the city, including the Nikkatsu Corporation that is a Japanese entertainment company known for its film and television productions.
This city was known as the "Hollywood of the East". Even now there are many movie related companies there.
The Nikkatsu star handprint monument was placed in an aisle near Chofu Station's east exit ticket gate.
It was created in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Nikkatsu.
The handprints of sixty former Nikkatsu stars and four directors are on display.
