Kurihama Flower Park in Yokosuka
Kurihama Flower Park is a flower-themed park where visitors can enjoy contact with lush greenery and nature.
Poppies bloom in spring and cosmos in autumn, attracting visitors from the city and far and wide.
Visitors can enjoy approximately 30,000 herbs of 130 varieties in the park’s herb garden all year round, and particularly from May to July, inhale the refreshing fragrance of lavender.

Yokosuka Iris Garden
On 3.8 ha of land, the Iris Garden is one of the largest in the country.
From late May to early July, 140,000 Japanese iris plants of 412 varieties bloom.
To celebrate the flowering of the Hanashoubu, and Koto (Japanese harp), the Hanashoubu Festival is held in June with concerts every Sunday during the festival.
In addition, there is a Fuji Garden and a Rhododendron Garden with 250 plants of 11 varieties, where visitors can enjoy flowers throughout the year.
The Visitor Centre features a 100 seat restaurant, an exhibition room, and a lounge where you can bring a packed lunch.

Verny Park
Formerly known as Rinkai Park, the Verny Park was developed in the style of a French garden and completed at the end of 2001
Verny, a French engineer, also contributed to the construction of the Yokosuka Ironworks on the opposite bank of the river. To celebrate the park’s French connections the Verny Oguri Festival is held there every year.
The park, features busts of Verny and an accountant Tadasun Oguri Uenosuke.
There are French-style flowerbeds, a fountain, and a Western-style bower around the square, decorated with approximately 130 roses, mainly French varieties, and about 1,400 plants.
There is a boardwalk along the seafront, where visitors can enjoy a walk in the sea breeze.
The park overlooks the main port of Yokosuka, where you can see moored ships. You can also see the US naval base on the right and the Maritime Self-Defence Force Regional Directorate on the left.

Tenjinjima Marine Biological Garden
Tenjinjima Marine Biological Garden is located on the west coast of the Miura Peninsula, facing Sagami Bay.
The park, blessed with a natural environment, is one of the few remaining untouched beaches on the Miura Peninsula and is home to many marine plants and coastal animals.
The southern seaside plant Crinum (Hamaomoto), which blossoms in the summer, is to be found widely distributed on Tenjinjima island, Kasajima island and the surrounding area (approx. 54 ha).
It has been designated as a natural monument of Kanagawa Prefecture.
The Visitor Centre displays specimens and photographs of Tenjinjima island’s coastal plants, insects and fish, and fishing tools from Sajima island.
