Mynavi JapanCup Yokosuka 2026: BMX Freestyle at Verny Park

Mynavi JapanCup Yokosuka 2026, an official BMX Freestyle competition, will be held from Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Verny Park in Yokosuka City.

The event is part of the Mynavi JapanCup series, organized by the Japan Freestyle BMX Federation (JFBF) and co-hosted by Yokosuka City. It is sanctioned by the Japan Cycling Federation (JCF), and the Elite categories will be held as UCI C1 events.

Set beside Yokosuka Port, Verny Park offers a waterfront setting in central Yokosuka, where visitors can experience the city’s distinctive international atmosphere and watch the speed, tricks, and creativity of BMX Freestyle up close. Admission is free.

Two Disciplines: BMX Freestyle Park and BMX Freestyle Flatland

Mynavi JapanCup Yokosuka 2026 will feature two disciplines: BMX Freestyle Park and BMX Freestyle Flatland.

BMX Freestyle Park

BMX Freestyle Park is held in a competition area with multiple ramps, where riders perform aerial tricks and linked combinations. Riders complete two one-minute runs. In the qualifying round, rankings are based on the average score, while the final uses the best-run format. In the Challenge categories, each run is 45 seconds.

Key points to watch include the rider’s speed, line choice, jump height, aerial tricks, and landing precision. Looking not only at the difficulty of the tricks, but also at how each rider builds their run and expresses originality, can make the competition easier to enjoy even for first-time spectators.

The Elite class qualifying rounds are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, and the Elite class finals are scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

BMX Freestyle Flatland

BMX Freestyle Flatland is performed on a flat competition area. Riders balance, rotate, and link tricks while using one wheel as a pivot, competing on the flow and originality of their performance. The qualifying round is a single three-minute run. In the final, riders complete two two-minute runs, with the best run counted. In the Challenge categories, both qualifying and final rounds consist of one run lasting 90 seconds to two minutes.

One of the highlights of BMX Freestyle Flatland is the individuality of each rider’s routine. Unlike Park, which features large jumps, Flatland is shaped by subtle shifts in balance, smooth rotations, and the way each trick connects to the next. Watch for the delicate control that makes the bicycle and rider appear to move as one.

The Elite class qualifying rounds are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, and the Elite class finals are scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Venue and Access: Verny Park Overlooking Yokosuka Port

The venue is the Ikoi-no-Hiroba area of Verny Park, a waterfront park in central Yokosuka City. The park is easily accessible from JR Yokosuka Station and Keikyu Shioiri Station, and visitors can enjoy views of Yokosuka Port from inside the park.

One of the attractions of the Verny Park venue is the chance to watch BMX competition against a distinctive port-town backdrop. Before or after the event, visitors can also combine spectating with a walk through the park, the YOKOSUKA Naval Port Cruise, or a stroll around Dobuita Street.

As a sport with roots in the United States, BMX also fits naturally with Yokosuka’s distinctive international atmosphere.

There is no dedicated event parking. Visitors are asked to use public transportation when coming to the venue.
