About Funakoshi Nango Park
Funakoshi Nango Park is a renowned cherry blossom spot located in Yokosuka City, just behind the Keikyu Taura Station. The park, nestled in a small area, boasts approximately 54 cherry blossom trees densely packed, offering visitors the chance to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom avenue.
Originally, this park was developed by Yokosuka City on the grounds of a former naval barracks post-World War II. Local volunteers and children contributed to planting cherry tree saplings over the years, resulting in the picturesque scene we see today. Annually, the Funakoshi Nango Park Cherry Blossom Festival is held during the cherry blossom season, attracting locals and tourists alike.
Conveniently situated approximately a 3-minute walk from Keikyu Taura Station, Funakoshi Nango Park stands out among other cherry blossom spots on the Miura Peninsula for its proximity to the train station. Additionally, nearby is the entrance to the Takatori Mountain hiking trail, offering hikers the opportunity to enjoy the surrounding scenery while exploring the area.
