Former Futabaya Sake Brewery

The former Futabaya Sake Brewery was founded in 1901 and produced popular brands such as "Sendan."
The current building is a tasteful Japanese-style house that was built in the early Taisho period.
A ball made from sprigs of Japanese cedar, which is the symbol of the brewery, hangs from the store’s entrance.
Although the brewery business closed in 1977, the "Sendan" brand sake was made by and sold by Tanabe brewery in Koshu City until 2009.
When the brewery went out of business, the building was almost taken down. However, the exterior wall and the interior were repaired to keep the cultural values, and which were recognized to be nationally registered tangible cultural property in October 2011.
