La Señas
Formed in 2016, LA SEÑAS is an improvisational ensemble made of percussionists. They’re the pioneering group in Japan to embrace the Argentine-originated improvisational technique known as “Rhythm with Signs,” using hand signals. With over 30 members, each active as a solo percussionist, many have performed alongside major artists.
At the core of LA SEÑAS’s performances is “Rhythm with Signs,” where the conductor employs over 150 hand signals to inspire improvised rhythms from the performers. They adeptly utilize various percussion instruments from all around the world, reading the venue and audience’s vibe through the conductor’s cues.
LA SEÑAS creates an electrifying ensemble, dynamically crafting the live experience and captivating the audience.
Quer Suingar Vem Pra Cá
Founded in 2012, this samba team’s name translates from Portuguese to Japanese as “Come Here If You Want to Swing.” In February 2018, they became the first Japanese group to perform in Rio de Janeiro’s official Carnival program, playing on the streets of the Villa Isabel district.
“Quer Suingar Vem Pra Cá” continued performing on the streets of Rio during Carnival for three consecutive years until 2020, when COVID-19 halted their performances. They are now set to make a comeback in Rio in 2024!
T.M.R with Friends
“T.M.R with Friends” is a cajón ensemble trio consisting of Tomita Kosuke (T), Kirakira Misako (M), and Ryanpei (R), active mainly in Kanagawa. For this special performance, they are joined by their friends Kanda Ma, Miko, and Haruko, along with Hiroco PaN, to create a fun atmosphere.
With guest appearances by Yumi Nakajima (singer) and Asami Shinma (pianist), both known for their innate sense of rhythm and vocal prowess, this promises to be an exciting collaboration. Yumi Nakajima is a talented SOUL and R&B singer, while Asami Shinma is a pianist known for her delicate tones and passion.
