Takeyama Azalea Festival 2024

Every year, Takeyama is adorned with beautiful azalea flowers heralding the arrival of spring. In 2024, from May 3rd (Friday) to May 5th (Sunday), the Takeyama Azalea Festival welcomes many visitors to enjoy the harmony of nature’s bounty and cultural festivities.

Takeyama Azalea Festival 2024: A Celebration of Nature and Culture

At the Takeyama Azalea Festival, you can enjoy the harmony of nature and culture. Around 1,200 azalea bushes bloom with beautiful flowers, and traditional events like the Children’s Sketch Contest and folk dance performances are held. Additionally, there are stalls where you can enjoy local specialties and even a Children’s Treasure Hunt Game.

Nature and Artistic Expression

Approximately 1,200 azalea bushes bloom with vibrant colors from mid-April to early May at the summit of Takeyama. The panoramic view from the summit resembles a picturesque painting, captivating all who visit.

Fostering Children’s Creativity

This year’s festival introduces a new event called the “Children’s Treasure Hunt Game.” In this activity, children below elementary school age, accompanied by parents, explore the mountainside in search of hidden treasures. Through nature and play, children’s imagination and creativity are nurtured.

Embracing Local Culture

The festival offers opportunities to experience local culture, including a Children’s Sketch Contest and traditional folk dance performances. Additionally, the festival sponsors the Shoko Jizo Festival, where locals come together to celebrate.
