Mitani Seitou (Hane Sanuki Honpo)

Wasanbon is high-grade sugar made from sugarcane using traditional methods that date back to the Edo period.
Mitani Seitou was founded in 1804 and is one of the first five houses allowed to manufacture sugar by the Takamatsu feudal domain. And since the inception of the "Sanuki Wasanbon Toh" sugar, they continue to uphold the traditional methods.
The "Oshibune" tugboat used in the manufacturing process of Wasanbon sugar has been in use since production first started and is designated an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property.
