Enjoy the color, shine and aroma of Jindaiji's soba noodles at DAISHI-CHAYA

DAISHI-CHAYA, A soba shop so popular that people line up on weekdays

Established in 1962, DAISHI-CHAYA is a soba shop with a tasteful atmosphere along Jindaiji-dori (street). The shop has chairs and tables and zashiki-style seating. There are also tables outside where pets are allowed.

DAISHI-CHAYA uses stone-milled soba flour produced in Akita prefecture.
The noodles are homemade by soba artisans. They have a nice color and gloss, and the wholesome flavor of buckwheat fills the mouth the instant you take a bite.
DAISHI-CHAYA is one among the few soba shops that are so popular that people line up on weekdays in the Jindaiji area, where there are a lot of soba shops.

DAISHI-CHAYA: Recommended soba menus

DAISHI-CHAYA’s homemade soba has a smooth texture combining firmness with moisture.
You can choose between “100%” (soba noodles made entirely from buckwheat flour) and “2 to 8” (soba noodles made from 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour).
The noodles are perfectly complemented by the flavorful and slightly sweet soup made with fresh bonito broth.

〇 Kamonan 1,500 yen
The duck meat is cooked using a low-temperature cooking method, and it is very soft, robust, and juicy. “2 to 8” noodles are a good choice for this because it is served hot.

〇 Tenzaru 1,200 yen

Tenzaru is a set meal that consists of cold soba and three types of freshly-fried tempura (prawn, eggplant, and sweet green pepper).
The tempura could also include edible wild plants, such as butterbur scape in spring, and other vegetables in season.
The “100%” noodles are recommended for this meal.

A tasteful atmosphere surrounded by greenery

【A postscript to the Jindaiji Soba Tour】

DAISHI-CHAYA is a family-run soba shop currently managed by the third-generation owner.
The owner, though young, was a memorably pleasant person who gave us a warm welcome in front of the shop.

The shop has a parking lot, making it easy to come by car with small children or pets.
There is nothing like having a bowl of soba in the tasteful atmosphere of this shop surrounded by greenery.
