YUSUI, a soba shop with a pleasant atmosphere that serves drinks

YUSUI, a soba shop where you can also enjoy choice drinks selected by the owner

YUSUI was set up in 1994 by SHINSUI-AN, which is located along Jindaiji-dori (street).
YUSUI has since continued for twenty-six years.
YUSUI uses stone-milled soba flour produced in Japan, offering fragrant, homemade soba noodles that have a satisfying texture to the throat.

From the outside, the shop has a distinctive appearance with a tiled roof. Inside, there are tables with chairs and also zashiki-style seating on the first and second floors. There are also tables on a pleasant terrace.
The shop is open until relatively late hours, serving the owner’s choicest drinks that you can enjoy while eating soba.

YUSUI: Recommended soba menus

YUSUI uses the soup recipe it received from SHINSUI-AN upon establishment, and YUSUI has also pursued perfection in its own way by ensuring a perfect balance of soy sauce, sugar, and broth. YUSUI generally serves “2 to 8” soba noodles (20% wheat flour and 80% buckwheat flour), though some of its menu items use 90% buckwheat noodles.
The owner, who likes to drink himself, has prepared a large selection of drinks, and YUSUI offers à la carte dishes that you can enjoy with an afternoon drink.

○ Yusui Tenmori 1,500 yen

○ Myoga (Japanese ginger) & Nasu (eggplant) no-oroshi hiyakake 1,000 yen

“Yusui Tenmori” is a set meal coupling 90% buckwheat soba noodles with six types of freshly-fried tempura (prawn plus five types of vegetables).
The cold soba noodles and the tempera make a perfect combination.
“Myoga (Japanese ginger) & Nasu (eggplant) no-oroshi hiyakake” is a refreshing dish consisting of eggplant, thinly sliced Japanese ginger, chopped green shiso leaves, and grated daikon radish with the signature soup served cold.

○ Soba yokan 360 yen

This yokan that has been served at YUSUI since the time of establishment is made of jelly-like preparations of melted soba and red beans respectively, and it is not as sweet as other yokan.
It is an all-around pastry that people come to enjoy as dessert after their soba noodles or just by itself.

YUSUI’s mission to please customers of all ages

【A message from YUSUI】

YUSUI is one of the relatively new soba shops in the Jindaiji area.
We have been working to protect the natural environment and the culture of Jindaiji—temples and soba are essential parts of this locality.
We wish to continue to serve people of all ages, offering a good balance of soba, drinks, and sweets in our menu.

We also have a takeout menu that includes many items such as soba, donburi, and soba yokan. We also sell fresh soba noodles that you could take home or purchase as a gift.
